Welcome to Mindful Living Sanctuary

Mindful Living Sanctuary is a small plant nursery, permaculture demonstration site, and natural site that promotes rehabilitating land for appropriate native ecosystems to enable people to live in harmony with wildlife safely.

  • Mindful Living Sanctuary is a unique and diverse site that includes a range of features and activities focused on sustainability and the restoration of native ecosystems. The man-made ponds, beaver ponds, dams, and lodges that we have created are important components of the ecosystem, providing habitat for a variety of plant and animal life and contributing to the overall health and diversity of the ecosystem.

  • Swales and canals are features that are often used in permaculture and other sustainable design approaches as a way to manage water resources and create more productive and diverse ecosystems.

  • Our swales are shallow channels that are dug into the landscape to capture and direct water, while the canals are used to transport water through bioremediation systems. These features can help to reduce erosion, improve soil health, and support a wide range of plant and animal life. By including swales and canals as part of a bioremediation system at Mindful Living Sanctuary, we are likely helping to create a more sustainable and healthy ecosystem on the site.

  • The impacts of creating access roads and trails on our site, especially in forests and other sensitive areas. When designing and building these types of infrastructure, it is important to minimize the impact on the surrounding ecosystem and take steps to protect and preserve the natural habitat. This involves designing the roads and trails to minimize the amount of land that is disturbed, using sustainable materials, and taking measures to minimize erosion and other impacts on the surrounding ecosystem.

  • By creating access roads and trails through the forests at Mindful Living Sanctuary, we are providing a way for people to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. It is important to ensure that these features are designed and managed in a way that minimizes their impact on the environment and promotes the long-term health and sustainability of the ecosystem.

  • In the future, this may include providing education and resources to help people understand the importance of protecting and preserving the natural environment, as well as implementing measures to mitigate the impact of these features on the ecosystem.

Changing the world starts with each of us.

We Begin with Our Ethics

  • Self-Care

  • Earth Care

  • People Care

  • Future Care

Changing the world begins with each and every one of us, as individuals. We all have the power to make a positive impact on the world around us, no matter how small it may seem.

It starts with making small changes in our own lives, such as reducing our waste, conserving energy, supporting local businesses, and being mindful of our consumption habits. We can also educate ourselves and others about the importance of sustainable practices and advocate for policies that protect our environment and communities.

By working together and taking individual responsibility, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and future generations. Let's all do our part in changing the world for the better!
